Does gray or black tape make sense?

Our fibre glass strip is in use at high temperatures. Colouring these tapes is only possible with soot particles, that will burn at higher tempertures. After the heating and burning of the particles, the tape will be white again.
Side benefit of a white tape: If oil or something familiar spills, you can directly see it. The tape has to be changed immediately because this is like a wick, when filled with burning fluids. It cannot be cleaned of the oil.

Even if the strip itself does not burn, the oil will do. Changing the strip will be much cheaper than cleaning and repairing the facility of a fire damage.
